BENNETT'S MAGICAL POWER
Bennett and his St. Bernard are very close. Bennett also has a brother many years older than he is, whom he admires and loves. However, Buddy, his St. Bernard, has been his companion and protector since he was a baby.
When Bennett starts being bullied by much older boys, Buddy realizes he has to teach Bennett how to protect himself. He teaches Bennett to belly breathe. This technique naturally calms the body and allows frightened or attacked children to think clearly and solve problems.
With this new skill, Bennett gains the confidence to avoid bullying situations and to handle those he cannot escape. Bennett's new "magical power" serves him well, and when a crisis occurs, he becomes a hero in the eyes of his family, his friends, and his town.
