Conrad McKelly is an Irish writer of narrative nonfiction currently based in the United States. Born and raised in Ireland, he brings to American subjects the perspective of an outsider who has spent years studying the intersections of race, law, and institutional power that shape the American city. His work sits at the boundary between true crime and social history, combining the narrative drive of the best investigative journalism with the analytical depth of serious scholarship. McKelly is particularly drawn to cases that illuminate larger structural failures - investigations where the crime itself becomes a lens through which the reader can examine the institutions, ideologies, and communities that surround it. Death Angels is his most ambitious work to date, reconstructing not merely the Zebra murders but the social and constitutional landscape of a city at the furthest edge of its own contradictions. He is currently at work on his next project in American criminal history.
