George Saintsbury (1845-1933) was a British critic and literary historian. He held the Regius Chair of Rhetoric and English Literature at the University of Edinburgh from 1895 to 1915. His works include The English Novel (1913), a survey of the genre's development from its origins to the early twentieth century.
