Before you start an adventure, you have to arrive.
Welcome to Barcelona.
Join Lola and her best friend Flo, a curious French Bulldog with a big appetite and an even bigger sense of adventure, as they spend a day exploring one of Europe's most colourful and exciting cities.
Arriving by sailboat at Port Vell, the two friends tie up their little red boat beside the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Sea and set off to discover wherever the day might lead them.
Their adventure begins with a delicious breakfast of churros and hot chocolate before they wander through a bustling market filled with colourful fruit, sweet treats and strange sea creatures from the sea. Along the way they meet street performers, watch daring acrobats, explore winding old streets and discover that Barcelona is a city full of surprises.
Lola and Flo visit the extraordinary Sagrada Família, a church unlike any other in the world, where they climb high into the towers and look out across the city. They explore the magical world of Parc Güell, filled with colourful mosaics, whimsical buildings and hidden corners, and discover the playful paintings of the famous artist Joan Miró.
Their journey takes them across Barcelona by Metro, funicular railway and cable car, soaring high above rooftops and the sea. They explore an old castle, defend the city from imaginary pirate ships, cool off with a swim in the warm Mediterranean Sea and enjoy a giant seaside paella as the sun begins to set.
But this is more than a book about famous landmarks.
