Paolo Broggio is Full Professor of Early Modern History at Roma Tre University. He received his PhD in History and Civilization from the European University Institute (EUI), Florence. His research and publications focus on the history of Roman Catholic missions in comparative perspective; the political dimensions of intra-Catholic theological controversies; the social and political history of theological teaching; and, more recently, the interrelations between violence, criminal justice, and peace-making in early modern Italy.
