2025 marked a milestone for the European Investment Bank Group, which reached a historic EUR100 billion in new financing. As a cornerstone of the European project, backed by the unified vision of its 27 shareholders, the Group increased its relevance and strategic focus, prioritising investments that contribute to competitiveness and security, aiming to promote shared prosperity and democratic values, across Europe and around the world. In 2025, the EIB set records in four key areas: energy grids, technological innovation, housing, and security and defence. Nearly 60% of total financing was dedicated to green projects, ranging from large energy grids and interconnectors to renewable energy deployment, tech research, and decarbonising heavy industry. These initiatives not only advanced climate action, they also strengthened Europe's competitiveness and energy security - delivering clean, affordable power, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and supporting leadership in critical industries.
