She was born in Ordu in 1977. She began her secondary education at Istanbul Erenköy Girls' High School and completed it at Bogaziçi Behçet Kemal Çaglar High School. In 1999, she graduated from the Department of Journalism at the Faculty of Communication, Marmara University. In the same year, she started her professional career at Zaman Newspaper. Until 2010, she worked as a reporter and editor in various departments of the newspaper. Afterwards, she worked as a scriptwriter and consultant for the documentary Mothers of Hizmet, which was broadcast on Irmak TV. Due to the political pressures of the time, she was forced to leave Turkey in 2019. She currently lives in the United Kingdom with her family. She is married and a mother of three children.
