A Strayed Spaceship was headed to the planet Castaway. Thousands of people were boarded on it, along with many animals they had brought along. Many were cryofrozen, as it would take thousands of years to get to the planet. Unfortunately, an accident occurred, and all humans were killed on the ship. Meanwhile, the animals were freed from their cryofrozen states and were able to survive.
However, the spaceship is no longer on its course to the planet Castaway. The ship is now drifting through space, aimlessly.
The animals on the spaceship have thus learned how to survive as a civilization under the rule of the great apes who call themselves the High Tierers.
Meanwhile, a young armadillo named Arvin has noticed a white-furred, silver-tailed ferret roaming the ship, evading the heavy surveillance system that the High Tierers have established over the ship. Arvin soon realizes that this ferret may be sneaking members off the spaceship and secretly taking them to the planet Castaway.
