The Toree are the first people of the universe, created by The One before any others. They are the ones called by The One to act as Guardians for other emerging peoples.

Now exiled from their home world of Tor, the Toree find themselves faced with the unimaginable - the possible loss of their new home and their own destruction. Worse, if nothing is done, all peoples of the galaxy and ultimately the entire universe will be doomed.

It falls to Shereen, who is a master strategist and one of the most powerful of the remaining Toree, to devise and carry through a plan to thwart the evil intent of the self-proclaimed Wizard Emperor that will trigger the universe-wide apocalypse. She must do so without revealing the existence of the Toree and without inadvertently causing the disaster to happen anyway.

Can she do so? What will her plan be? Will it be enough to avoid the foretold disaster?
