Roo the curious little cockapoo has a very big problem to solve: Hugo the hedgehog has vanished.
At the top of the hill, hidden behind an old holly hedge, lies Roo's Garden - a peaceful world of winding paths, towering trees, secret burrows, and busy little creatures. But one morning, the garden wakes to worrying news. Hugo Hazelwood, the gentle young hedgehog who loves blackberry picking and long naps, has disappeared without a trace.
Determined to find him, Roo gathers the animals of the garden and sets off on an unforgettable adventure through woodland paths, tangled thickets, streams, hidden clearings, and mysterious corners of the countryside. Along the way, the search party quickly discovers that finding a missing hedgehog is not nearly as simple as it sounds.
The garden creatures all have very different ideas about how a rescue mission should be run. Saffy Sycamore the squirrel keeps losing important things, Milly Meadowcroft the magpie talks far too loudly, Otto Oakwood the owl thinks he knows everything, and the dramatic pheasants Pascale and Penelope Petitbois somehow make every situation more chaotic than before. Meanwhile, Sir Thaddeus Thistlewick III the toad would much rather stay in his Seat of Serenity and complain about modern nonsense than go charging through muddy woodland.
As clues begin to appear, friendships are tested, tempers flare, and the little group must learn to work together if they are ever going to bring Hugo safely home.
