Lisa Wood earned baccalaureate and master's degrees in biology at UC Berkeley and San Diego State University. During an internship with the Planning Department, she found time to train Arabian horses and ride one across the Tibetan Plateau! Wood, former Senior Environmentalist for the City of San Diego, is a devoted backpacker, hiker, and cyclist. Her affiliations include the Nature Conservancy, the California Native Plant Society, the Endangered Habitat League, and the Association of Environmental Professionals. Lisa is also a member of the Sierra Club, the Audubon Society, and the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust. Her previous published books are Chasing the California Dream: A Solo Horseback Journey Along the California Coast (Lost Coast Press, 2001), which was awarded "Best Personal Adventure" by BAIPA (Bay Area Independent Publishers Association, and Mustang Journal: 3,000 Miles Across America By Horse.
