Jakobina K. Arch is a Professor of History at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Her research focuses on marine environmental history in Japan, especially in the early modern period. Jack Bouchard is an Assistant Professor of History at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, where he teaches environmental history. He researches commercial fishing, island/coastal ecologies and changing global foodways in the 15th-16th centuries.
