During our lifetime together we were always a "couple" a "pair" not you or me but "us." She never walked behind me, always at my side. We challenged life and the world together with enthusiasm and confidence with few regrets. Nancy never complained about what we didn't have. She was always happy with what we did have and as she aged, she became even more of her best self. She had pried in herself the way she walked, talked and listened. If we had troubles, and we had our share, we never kept them from each other. I had respect for her thinking and her ability to face up to misfortune, she never wavered. We learned that there was no living together without understanding and that means compromise. Love is a moment of stillness that sometimes a word can shatter, or love can be a thing that endures, a rich deep current that flows unending down through the years. We had that because of her.
