Tony Harris, a pop music impressario has gone missing in the middle of a lengthy European tour with two of the pop groups he is managing. His wife Louise reports his disappearance to James Talbot, who is employed by them to take care of their personal business activities. Talbot has an assistant, Anna, who has to do much of the donkey work.
They eventually discover that Harris vanished after the gigs one night stand in Rouen in France, with apparently a younger blonde photographer named Claudine Allard. But to where?
Talbot and Anna's investigations eventually discover that Harris and Allard had escaped to her parents villa in Nice, France. The novel outlines their story in tracing the missing entrepreneur.
