The Catholic Church does not have a formal teaching on evolution at this time. But people wonder about the meaning of their lives as experienced in their own culture, which today is dominated by science. Charles Darwin's theory of evolution has raised many questions and led to diverse claims. In this work addressed to the general reader, the author discusses what has been reliably established by science, distinguishing it from interpretations of the theory guided by philosophical assumptions. Seeking a coherent view of the world, he integrates our scientific knowledge with what we have in Sacred Scripture and lays the foundation of a Christian cosmology. It is the beginning of a venture for generations.
