Anna is an elementary school student and a constant headache for her mother, who insists that "females should not have big feet, nor a big mouth, nor a big belly, nor big ideas." However, Anna doesn't consider herself a typical girl! As soon as she realized that she doesn't like girlish games, she sought and found the company of boys. They will soon dub her their leader. But what will happen to Anna when her feminine nature begins to take the lead? Games and entanglements in a seemingly quiet provincial town that hides many secrets.
The novel is the first part of the tetralogy "Anna, then and always," where we follow Anna's life from the late 1950s, when she was still a girl growing up in the province, to the mid-1970s, immediately after the dictatorship. At the same time, we experience with her the turbulent 1960s in Athens, where she had moved.
