Blanche might be a necromancer, but only the gods could bring the dead back to life. Unfortunately, they tend to ignore the Arcane, seeing the problems of mortals as beneath their notice. But her sister would not remain dead.
Having learned the secret to summoning Death, she begs him to bring Mira back to life. When he finally agrees, it's with one condition; she has to take Mira's place in the Underworld.
Things only get more complicated when one of Death's reapers turns up murdered-not something that should normally be possible. Blanche ends up caught in the middle of a plot involving the strongest beings of death in the universe. A plot she can't resist because the abrasive, cold man she calls Death is much more than she ever expected him to be. Except, Death knows a secret about her even she's unaware of, and it's going to change everything.
