In "Thin Line, " the police code of silence is tested when officer Rita Sanchez's eight-year-old son, Shareef, witnesses the murder of his grandmother and other family members. The next day he is hauled off to the precinct and questioned inappropriately by the police after he's involved in a riot at school. At the precinct, he recognizes a cop as one of the assailants from the murder scene, which begins this gripping tale of deception, graft, and murder -- and a young boy's loss of innocence and coming of age.
