Do you ever feel alone? Like God is far away from you and doesn't notice what you're going through?
After Jesus' resurrection, He didn't leave His followers or us all alone. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His people the gift of the Holy Spirit. He even claimed that having the Holy Spirit would be better than having Jesus with us in person. He sent his Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to live in our hearts and our midst. And Jesus promised the Comforter would never leave us. He's always there and always accessible. The Comforter will always give us access to the loving, saving, healing, powerful presence of God.
Take a moment to consider your life and the places and situations you have experienced or even needed the comfort and peace of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes our lives don't go the way we'd want them to. But Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would give us comfort and peace when we are weak or suffering. And not just the kind of comfort that makes difficult things bearable, but the kind of comfort that gives us surprising joy in difficult circumstances.
