David H. Rothman consulted with Congolese people during the writing of Drone Child. He has long been interested in issues of developing countries. Rothman is also author of a Washington novel, The Solomon Scandals, praised by the Washington City Paper for "the same dark zeal Hammett held for Frisco or Chandler had for Los Angeles."
