The oldest 18, the youngest just 14. Set in modern-day Afghanistan this fascinating story continues to unfold. Their deeds are acknowledged by the Americans, British and Russians, which in itself is very unusual. They have been welded into a behind the lines fighting unit by Kate Murphy and the man who released them from sexual slavery, known only as "the Commander" who is British.

From horror, rejection, shame and adversity the Afghan girls become unique in helping to reduce drug, arms and people trafficking, excelling at all they do, aided surprisingly by some Japanese volunteers. But will unforeseen treachery and betrayal see them terminated?
