The action of the action novel "Enter the gate close to you" unfolds in the mid-nineties in Ukraine. First from the wreckage of the Soviet Union, the most active part of the population emerged, namely, criminal elements and their allies - the former party nomenclature. Planned economy collapsed, and the market will not come soon. Changing the moral and ethical basis of life is a painful process. Ordinary citizens long and painfully rebuild their thinking under a different motivational base. It seems that all restrictions have collapsed, and you can grab everything that your hand can reach. What is possible and what is not, everyone decides for himself, and only time can judge who was right and who was wrong.
In the center of the narrative is the family of an engineer who has worked in a large power plant for seventeen years in good faith. Despair and spiritual devastation are pushing the head of the family to a series of crimes, but not the thirst for profit guides him, and care for their neighbors. It is this unbroken moral core and the purity of thoughts generated by it that save the main character and his institute comrade from inevitable death in the criminal and political meat grinder in which they found themselves.
