Jean-Luc Mylayne (* 1946) hat sein Leben lang die Welt durchstreift, um Vögel in ihrer ruralen Umgebung zu fotografieren. Dabei investierte er jeweils Wochen und Monate in die Suche nach der richtigen Komposition. Die Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles präsentiert ein Ensemble von 39 Werken, die zwischen 1979 und 2008 entstanden und in neun Kapiteln gegliedert sind. Im Umkreisen der Beziehung zum Licht und zur Örtlichkeit zeigt sich Ihnen beim Besuch der Ausstellung eine wachsende Ausdehnung des Blaus des Himmels. Jede Fotografie existiert nur als Unikat und betont gleichzeitig in aller Ruhe sowohl den Moment und die Dauer der Aufnahme, um die Begegnung mit der anderen Kreatur, dem Vogel, geschehen zu lassen. Der Vogel aber ist nicht der alleinige Gegenstand des Bildes, er ist auch Vorwand und Zeuge.

Jean-Luc Mylayne (born in 1946) has spent his life projecting himself into the world to photograph "the bird" in rural settings where he invests weeks, sometimes months, to achieve the composition he seeks. The Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles presents an ensemble of thirty-nine works, created between 1979 and 2008, organized into nine chapters according to their relationship to light and to location, and playing from the start on the gradual invasion of the azure blue sky. Printed as a single original, each photograph is silent about the place it was taken, but in stating its dates, underlines the length of time needed to gain access to the other that is the bird. The bird is not the photograph's only object: it is the pretext and the witness.
